Asha is very passionate about using technology to solve the problems that effect underrepresented and underserved communities. In 2015, she co-founded Five-0, an internationally acclaimed mobile police rating app, which has been featured in Forbes, CNN, Washington Post, Business Insider, Buzzfeed, the Google Developer Conference, and more.
In 2016, Asha Co-founded STEMGuyana, a non-profit organization that teaches robotics, scratch programming, and app development to youth across the country of Guyana. STEMGuyana has over 60 locations, and has recently been crowned the fastest growing STEM program in the Caribbean.
Now Asha can be found creating technology for black women as the founder and CEO of Coily, a community-driven marketplace that utilizes AI to personalize and enhance the black hair shopping experience. The goal is to create a home for black women to lean into their love of hair over and over again.

Her dad bought her first computer when she was 9 years old.She went on to attend a technical high school where she did electronics and interned at 17 at a company that taught about IT. This became her first contact with the IT world and the numerous possibilities and opportunities present in the field.She also recounted her experience of how she had always wanted to play football with guys, mostly her cousins and brothers. On some occasions, she got injured but was always encouraged by her parents that she could do it.

Gessica Chies – Principal Solution Consultant

Gessica Chies is a Principal Solution Consultant in Infor. Even though she doesn’t have a technical background, she started her career in IT as a Marketing Intern at Microsoft while she was finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and made her way up by studying and challenging herself. She worked for some of the top IT companies: Oracle, Microsoft, Ingram Micro, VMWare, Mcafee, and finally Infor. After living abroad for 4 years, she decided to go back home and have a more stable life but she is always on the move, enjoying working in IT and traveling to different countries, speaking different languages and still learning every day something new.”
